Hiring: Alison Rosnick, our Director of Talent, has been working on finding great talent to staff our growing school. We’re adding more positions and restructuring to push our vision across three campuses until our new building is ready. I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of people in and out of our buildings interviewing for next year.
Pathway to Teacher Certification and Master’s Degree Program: The Network is proud to announce a newly formed pathway to certification for uncertified staff. We’ve titled it NCS’ Teaching Fellows Program. With this program, we now have the opportunity to offer our employees a cost-effective pathway to dual certification in general education and special education as well as a master’s degree. In exchange for agreeing to remain employed at NCS for three years (two while in school and one after), NCS will pay for half of your tuition. For more information, please contact Alison Rosnick.
Enrollment Lottery: We received approximately 1700 applications for next school year and plan to enroll about 110 scholars across NCSH, with the bulk of our new admits being in kindergarten. Additionally, we plan to open a fourth section of third grade at the NW Annex. The new class will be called 3-4: Excellence.
National Charter School Conference: We are proud to announce that Lindsey Mattingly will speak about special education at the National Charter School Conference in Austin, TX in June.
NCS Pop Up Store: Stay tuned. We are launching an online pop-up store to sell NCS swag for families, scholars, and staff on May 29th. More information will be forthcoming.
New Student Information System: In August, the Network will launch PowerSchool, a Student Information System meant to replace TeacherEase. Its software is significantly more robust, and we are very excited for the transition! Thank you to all staff who gave input on the SIS selection process.
Network Data Manager: The Network is hiring a Data Manager who will work as a liaison between the Network, Principal, and our newly formed ELA, Math and Science curriculum teams to capture classroom data and to help each of your better understand the achievement of the scholars in front of you. Data will be much more transparent, easy to understand and provided for you, with minimal data entry work needed from our teachers.
Newly Revamped Website: The Network is working with our website developers to completely revamp our website to capture the growth of our school from one to two. This should be complete by July 2018.
As always, we are immensely excited for what lies ahead.
Best,
Brett
