6th Grade ELA
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” -Jane Goodall
Sophie Anger, 6th Grade ELA teacher, is originally from Brooklyn, but ventured out of the city to get her BA in Education and English at Goucher College in Baltimore. Although she was initially planning on teaching elementary education, she realized her passion for ELA during her senior year of college while directing a volunteer based creative literacy program, “Read a Story / Write a Story.” She will be the third generation in her family to teach in NYC, and is deeply inspired by her grandfather, a history teacher who advocated tirelessly for his students. She hopes to uphold this legacy of promoting educational equity by helping NCSH scholars succeed in their ELA performance. She is incredibly excited to finally teach in the city that schooled her, and to be part of the strong community NCSH has cultivated.
