“Books are a form of political action. Books are knowledge. Books are reflection. Books change your mind.” -Toni Morrison
Monique Baez, fourth grade teacher, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Hunter College with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Africana/Latino studies. She has always had a passion for reading, writing and education, so joining Teach for America was a perfect career change. Born and raised in New York City, Monique remained in her hometown of The Bronx while teaching elementary school and completing her Masters in Teaching Exceptional Learners (SPED) at Relay Graduate School of Education. Monique works to improve her ability to help students see the connections between their education in school and how they may apply their education in the world around them. She believes in social justice for all and the art of storytelling to bridge gaps between individuals and communities. She is excited to join the NCS team and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with students and families.
